Facebook is complex these days, and navigating the jungle of posts served to you daily on your news feed can be time-consuming. Facebook’s algorithm automatically decides what content you’ll see, and sometimes it’s not the content that you actually want to see on a regular basis. What to do? Our Los Angeles social media agency has the scoop on how to customize your news feed so you see the posts you want to first, and improve your efficiency when you’re on Facebook.
Change Up What You See First
Facebook’s new algorithm will do the deciding for you as far as what posts you see unless you tell it otherwise! Rather than choosing the Default setting, which enables the algorithm, you can select up to 30 people or pages to see first, but just know that your selections aren’t ranked in order. Here’s how to change this setting on different platforms.
Desktop
When you see a post from a friend of yours, hover over the name. Then click on the “Following” button and choose “See First.”
Alternatively, you can go to a friend’s page and click the “Following” button and then choose “See First.”
For pages that you’ve liked, click the “Liked” Button and choose “See First.”
If you’d like to get specific notifications on activities on that page, such as live videos or events, click on the Edit Pencil icon and then select Notifications.
Then you can choose what types of notifications you’d like to receive.
Mobile
To enable “See First” on your mobile device, the process is similar. Simply tap the page or person’s name, tap the “Following” button, and tap “See First.”
Now you should be able to enjoy your Facebook news feed a little more, and also be more productive by seeing the posts that give you the information you need first rather than having to search for them.
